Home made soap is all chemistry. This recipe is a bit grainy which makes a great exfoliation soap. That is normal in some home made soap recipes. Sometimes Shea Butters, Palm Oils and even some fragrances oil can cause tiny crystals in the finished soap recipe. The soap is perfectly fine, this is purely cosmetic. Some colorants may run. If your lather is a little colored, do not be alarmed, that is normal. The colorant is cosmetic grade and will not stain your skin or tub.
Why is homemade soaps better? Home made soap also contains glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant that attracts moisture from the air to the skin. It’s produced naturally during the soapmaking process. Some commercial soaps remove the glycerin from the bars and sell it to make lotions and creams and other things, sometimes replacing it with synthetics. Just google it. You will see why some consider it liquid gold.
